James Dexter has spent more than a decade inside London's house scene without ever needing to leave it for a bigger stage elsewhere. As a DJ, producer and the founder of Inermu Records, he has built a career on consistency rather than reinvention, deep, minimal, groove-first house that has earned him a regular slot at fabric and a label roster other producers now measure their own output against.

Building Inermu From the Ground Up

Dexter founded Inermu, whose name plays on "inner music," in 2015, initially as an outlet for his own tracks that didn't quite fit anywhere else. "Honestly, when I first started the label, it was just an outlet for my own music," he has said of its early days, but it grew well beyond that, into a label recognized as one of Beatport's all-time best-selling Minimal/Deep Tech imprints, with a roster that has included ANOTR, Chris Stussy, Toman, Djebali, Tuccillo and Mihai Popoviciu alongside Dexter's own releases. CAYA at fabric

Dexter has a long-standing relationship with Come As You Are (CAYA), fabric London's regular Sunday party built around label showcases, DJ collectives and rising talent. He has played it repeatedly over the years, including Inermu-branded nights and all-night-long sets, and has described fabric as his favorite club in London, one he's been going to since he first started clubbing there. That relationship made the venue the natural site for Inermu's tenth-anniversary label showcase in 2025.

'Here Now': A Decade in the Making

Dexter released "Here Now," his debut full-length album, on October 10, 2025, via Inermu, timed to coincide with the label's tenth anniversary. The ten-track record moves across hazy, dub-tinged rollers, swung and minimal rhythms, and driving garage-laced grooves, tracks including "Reese's Groove," "Feels," "Sunday Service" and "Back To The Sunshine", and it draws together the different sides of a sound Dexter has spent a decade refining on his own label.
