Melodic HouseDeep House

Solomun is a house DJ who sells out London's Alexandra Palace, runs his own label and holds a Sunday residency at Pacha Ibiza. Born Mladen Solomun in Bosnia and raised in Hamburg, he spent two decades moving from remixer to headliner, with the imprint Diynamic as his base. In 2026 he marks that label's 20th anniversary, released a collaboration with Skrillex and climbed to No. 41 in DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs.

From Travnik to Hamburg

Solomun was born on 27 December 1975 in Travnik, then in Yugoslavia and now in Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to English and German Wikipedia and the biography on Wikimedia Commons. He grew up in Hamburg. English Wikipedia says he worked in construction for his father as a boy, later founded a small film production company with friends and spent about five years in film before committing to music.

His route into dance music came through cassettes his cousin brought from the clubs. He started buying records, played at a youth centre called House of Youth at 16, and began producing at 23. English Wikipedia describes his musical roots as hip-hop, soul, funk and R&B. His sister Magdalena is also a DJ and producer, per German Wikipedia.

Diynamic and the Sound

Diynamic Music, run with Adriano Trolio, is Solomun's home label. The imprint says on its own site that it has existed since 2006, and English Wikipedia dates its founding to late 2005 with the motto "Do It Yourself." His first EP on the label, Solomun EP, appeared in 2006, followed by the album Dance Baby in 2009. In December 2010 he launched a second, more experimental label, 2DIY4. Until June 2014 he also co-owned the Hamburg club Ego with his sister and Trolio.

The sound is built on groove: English Wikipedia quotes a description of "house music, but with deep, ultra funky basslines, euphoric melodies and emotionally charged vocals." His remixes did much of the early work. His 2011 remix of Noir & Haze's "Around" was named Remix of the Year by Resident Advisor, and he has remixed acts as varied as Depeche Mode, Lana Del Rey, Leonard Cohen and Interpol, as well as Paul Kalkbrenner's "Cloud Rider" in 2015. His 2021 album Nobody Is Not Loved, out on BMG according to German Wikipedia, was made with help from Jakob Grunert and Siriusmo.

Awards and Breakthrough Years

In December 2012 Mixmag named him DJ of the Year, and that year he also won Best Producer at the DJ Awards in Ibiza and Best International DJ at Brazil's Cool Awards. English Wikipedia counts four DJ Awards wins across Best Producer, Best DJ and Best Melodic House. He mixed Watergate 11 in 2012 and Global Underground #40: Hamburg in 2014.

His crossover reach is documented across RTS.FM's coverage too. In 2018 he appeared as one of the resident DJs in GTA Online's After Hours update alongside Dixon, Tale of Us and The Black Madonna, a precedent covered in our GTA VI soundtrack report. Our Cocoon Recordings timeline lists him among the artists on the label's "20 Years Cocoon Recordings" compilation, released on 19 February 2021 alongside Rampa, Josh Wink and Tiga, on the label founded by Sven Väth. One outlet's listing of the package for Jean-Michel Jarre's Oxygène 50th anniversary reissue credits Solomun with reflections, as our Jarre report notes.

The night most associated with him is Solomun +1, a Sunday residency that has been tied to Pacha since 2013, according to German Wikipedia, with a second Ibiza residency of the same name at Destino noted by English Wikipedia around 2015 and 2016. RTS.FM's guide to clubbing in Spain in 2026 puts Solomun on the Saturday of Pacha's 24 April opening weekend and on Sundays with +1, and notes four Solomun Outdoors dates at Destino Five Ibiza. Ibiza Spotlight lists the 2026 +1 season from 31 May to 4 October, and our Ibiza closing parties calendar has the all-night Solomun +1 closing on Sunday 4 October.

2026: Alexandra Palace, Kinesphere and Rumpta

Solomun's 2026 has been one of his biggest. Techno Airlines reports two sold-out nights in the Great Hall at Alexandra Palace in London on 6 and 7 February, the second added after the first sold out, with a concert film premiering on his YouTube channel on 23 July. In March, Diynamic released the single "Kinesphere" with Coco Nancy on vocals, and CDA Mag reported plans for shows in New York on 23 and 24 May, Munich on 30 May and Paris on 13 June.

On 1 July, according to The Fader, or 3 July according to Ibiza Spotlight, Diynamic released "Rumpta," his first studio collaboration with Skrillex. Ibiza Spotlight says the track had been teased for months in sets, including at Tomorrowland 2025 and EDC Las Vegas, and that Skrillex was due as a special guest at Pacha on 5 July. In October, DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs poll placed him at No. 41, up 14 places from 55 in 2025, according to Techno Airlines' list. Diynamic's 20th anniversary is marked throughout 2026.
