History

Lentekabinet is the spring festival from the people behind Dekmantel. Where Dekmantel Festival fills the Amsterdamse Bos in summer, Lentekabinet is the two-day season opener held in Het Twiske, a recreation and nature area just north of Amsterdam. Dekmantel has organised it there since 2013, according to a position paper the organisers sent to the Waterland council in 2020, and the festival's 2025 recap describes it as the springtime edition that kicks off the festival season.

The programming is wider than a house and techno bill. In that same 2020 paper, the organisers describe a lineup running from African bands and local artists to world music, house, disco, soul and jazz, plus an art and culture program with installations, theatre, dance and performance, with partners including the Stedelijk Museum, Cineville and EYE Filmmuseum. The paper also claims the festival was the first big one in the Netherlands to run on fully climate-neutral power, using 100 percent sustainable biofuel, and says the food has been vegetarian and plastic-free since the first edition.

The recent lineups show how that mix plays out. In 2024 the bill included Eris Drew and Octo Octa, Charlotte Adigéry and Bolis Pupul, DJ Godfather, D.Tiffany and DJ Lag, across stages named Poppy, Lotus, The Swamp and Sundew. The 2025 edition added the Aster stage for live acts and had Marie Davidson, Ben UFO, Roza Terenzi and Jyoty on the program. In 2026, on May 23 and 24, the lineup took in Call Super, Honey Dijon, Seth Troxler, Lil' Louis, HUNEE, Goldie and SHERELLE, plus a one-off back-to-back from Chris Stussy and Shanti Celeste.

Next edition

Lentekabinet 2027 is set for May 15 and 16, 2027, over Pentecost weekend at Het Twiske, and the festival's site calls it the 14th edition. The program, lineup and cultural collaborations had not been announced at the time of checking. The site links to an official ticket shop but did not state whether sales had opened.
