History

Love International describes itself as a continuation of the original Garden Festival, which, in the official site's words, "first took place in Croatia over 20 years ago" and paved the way for many of the festivals now held across Tisno and the rest of the country. The Garden began in 2006 with about 300 people, according to Data Transmission's 2015 report, after Nick Colgan, who had opened a lounge bar called The Garden in Zadar in 2005, found an abandoned nightclub near Petrčane and decided the venue needed an event to match. The festival ran in Petrčane from 2006 until 2011 and then in Tisno until 2015, per EDM Is Life's 2024 report. Time Out Croatia, interviewing Colgan and booker Dave Harvey ahead of the farewell, described the Tisno site as a former holiday camp for workers of the state oil company INA, set in its own bay, and noted that the Barbarella's club moved from Petrčane to Tisno alongside the festival. The tenth and last Garden Festival opened its gates in July 2015, and Time Out gave its closing date as July 8.

Love International followed in 2016. Data Transmission reported in August 2015 that it would be curated by Dave Harvey and Tom Paine, the pair behind Love Saves The Day, Futureboogie and Wow at Glastonbury, and that it would run from 29 June to 6 July 2016. Resident Advisor's review of that first edition called it "the reincarnation" of The Garden Festival, with the same Tisno site and three music stages, and noted that the Sunrise Sessions idea carried over from the final Garden. RA's 2016 report places Dixon on the Argonaughty boat party with Job Jobse, and Ben UFO playing a four-hour set with Craig Richards at Barbarella's. In January 2018 the festival announced a round of acts that included Four Tet and Floating Points, per Data Transmission. The tenth Love International, in July 2025, had a first wave that again included Floating Points and Ben UFO, according to EDM Is Life and Why Now.

The venue is also the home of another festival. Dimensions Festival, which moved from Pula to The Garden in Tisno, uses the same resort in late August.

Getting there and practical info

The Garden Resort is at Ul. Petrića Glava 34, 22240 Tisno, just outside the town. The festival's FAQ puts Tisno about a 20 to 25 minute walk from the resort. Barbarella's is at Uvala Prosika bb, 22213 Pirovac, roughly 20 minutes' drive from the main site and reached by festival shuttle bus or taxi. The FAQ lists the bus at 5 euros each way (a figure listed for the current FAQ, not confirmed for 2027).

  • Airports: Zadar is the nearest, about 40 minutes by car. Split is about 60 minutes and Zagreb about 3 hours. The FAQ recommends booking an organised coach transfer from Zadar or Split airport through Shuttle Tours, and also describes regular buses via Zadar or Šibenik.
  • By train, bus or sea: the FAQ points to trains and FlixBus services into Zagreb and a coach onward to Tisno, or a ferry to Zadar (Jadrolinija, with Ancona to Zadar taking roughly four hours) and a coach of about an hour from there.
  • Access: the main site is open 24 hours a day for ticket holders across all seven days. The festival is over 18s only, and the site is cashless on an RFID wristband.
  • Accommodation: apartments, mobile homes and glamping are available inside The Garden resort. The FAQ also names Hotel Miran in Pirovac as an official partner, and lists Jezera, Pirovac and Murter as other options.
  • Tickets: the home page says 2027 tickets went on sale on Friday 25 September, with sign-up for access at 10am BST. The FAQ's ticket section gives the year as 2026. Boat party tickets are sold separately and, per the FAQ, go on sale later, as do Barbarella's Unlimited passes and day tickets. The home page says Barbarella's tickets will be sold separately from the main passes, from early 2027.
  • Not published: prices, the 2027 line-up and set times. The FAQ says set times will be released ahead of the festival in the festival app.

A word on stale information: the FAQ has a line saying no day tickets are left for The Garden, but the question it answers is worded for 2026, and the page does not otherwise make the 2027 day-ticket position clear. Check the official page before relying on it.
