Petre Inspirescu is the member of the Arpiar trio whose records wander furthest from the dance floor. The Romanian DJ and producer, born Radu Dumitru Bodiu, co-founded the label with Rhadoo and Raresh, then used it to release a triple album in 2009, and later made records that Bandcamp Daily says draw on Buchla patching and Russian composition.
Early Life and Path Into Music
Discogs describes him as a Romanian DJ and producer based in Bucharest, born on 28 April 1979 in Brăila, and gives his full name as Radu Dumitru Bodiu. XLR8R's history of Romanian house and techno confirms the name and says he comes from Brăila, roughly 200 km from Bucharest. It also gives his nickname as Pedro, which is where the "P" in the trio name RPR (Rhadoo, Pedro, Raresh) comes from.
In 2002 he met Rhadoo through a residency at Web Club, a small Bucharest venue, according to XLR8R. The same year he travelled to Ibiza to stay with Stefan Cosma, who found him bookings at a bar and at private parties. Back home, he and Rhadoo made long train journeys to Budapest, Prague or Istanbul to buy records. He later joined the booking agency Sunrise around the same time as Raresh.
Arpiar and the RPR Trio
XLR8R says Petre Inspirescu co-ran the label formed in 2006 or 2007 with Rhadoo and Raresh, and the same article calls him a co-founder of Arpiar. Bandcamp Daily writes the name as [a:rpia:r] and adds that Ricardo Villalobos coached the trio and released several of his records on the label. For how the label fits into the bigger picture, see our Rominimal history.
Sound and Style
Bandcamp Daily says Inspirescu "typically veers in directions alternately crunchy and rhythmic". XLR8R's 2015 feature on the scene adds that his discography spans ambient to classical. That breadth is the point of him: the trio's club sets are patient and hypnotic, while his own records often step sideways into long-form, instrumental writing.
Bandcamp Daily also notes that he leads the π Ensemble, in which Cristi Cons performs, which puts him closer to a band leader than to a typical club producer.
Labels and Releases
Discogs shows the arc clearly. After a run of early singles in 2007, the 12-inch Fiare / Sub Salcie appeared on Arpiar in 2008, followed on 4 December 2009 by the triple album Intr-o Seara Organica..., limited to 450 copies according to its Discogs entry. He mixed an episode of the Resident Advisor podcast in 2010 and, in 2013, fabric 68 for the London club's mix series, which Bandcamp Daily lists among the Rominimal essentials alongside his record Sit.
His records for the Tokyo label mulemusiq include Talking Waters in 2014 and Vin Ploile. The date of the latter is disputed: Discogs and MusicBrainz put it at December 2015, while Bandcamp Daily dates it to 2016, and calls it a detour drawing on Buchla patching and Russian composition. His 2025 double album Traces of the Wind came out on TON TON in June 2025, Discogs says.
