Best London Clubs 2026: Techno, House and Where to Go

London clubs checked in November 2026: fabric, Ministry of Sound, Drumsheds, E1 and FOLD are open. Corsica was due to close in March; Printworks is shut.

As of 5 November 2026, the London clubs worth planning a night around for techno and house are fabric, Ministry of Sound, Drumsheds, Studio 338, E1, FOLD, The Cause, Phonox, Egg London and Village Underground, with XOYO and Colour Factory as mixed-programme rooms. Two names that belong in any London conversation are not on that list. Corsica Studios announced its closure for the end of March 2026, and Printworks has been shut since 2023 with no confirmed reopening date. Every venue below was checked against a 2025 or 2026 source, and each entry says how solid the evidence is. Where we could not read a venue's current calendar, we say so.

This is a guide to a shrinking, litigated, and still very active scene. London lost a lot of rooms in the last decade, and the ones that survived did so through licensing hearings, landlord deals and refurbishments. If you want the policy story, our pieces on why the UK keeps losing its nightclubs, the Home Office licensing data and where closed nightclubs go cover it. This guide is about where to go now.

How London's club scene stands in 2026

London is losing nights, but its institutions are still standing, and the policy fight has moved from the street to City Hall. The UK bar, club and casino sector shrank 5.1 percent in the year to spring 2026 and is close to 29 percent smaller than in March 2020, according to Night Time Economy data reported by the Morning Advertiser and summarised in our closures explainer. Time Out reported on 7 February 2026, citing Metro, that London has 58 licences allowing alcohol sales around the clock, down from 91 in 2010 (Time Out). fabric is among the ten 24-hour licensed venues Time Out counts in Islington.

The night czar is gone, and a commission is coming. Sadiq Khan created the night czar role after his 2016 election, and Amy Lamé held it for eight years before standing down in autumn 2024, amid criticism that licensing decisions sit with borough councils (Far Out, 3 October 2024). On 27 January 2026 the Mayor's independent Nightlife Taskforce set out 23 recommendations, including an independent Nightlife Commission to replace the role, and City Hall did not appoint a successor (Hackney Citizen, 29 January 2026). The report was unveiled at Colour Factory in Hackney Wick. Other recommendations include a London-wide licensing standard and requiring complaints from at least 10 unrelated households before Environmental Health investigates a licensed venue.

How far the commission has got is worth knowing before anyone calls it a fix. A City Hall freedom of information response dated 14 October 2026 says the Commission is "an independent body set up by the industry", that its interim board has five members drawn from the Taskforce, and that a funding agreement of roughly the £300,000 City Hall earmarked is not yet signed and is expected to be finalised by January 2027 (London.gov.uk FOI log). The Caterer lists fabric's Cameron Leslie among the Taskforce members (The Caterer, 27 January 2026).

The Mayor's call-in power. The English Devolution and Community Empowerment Bill, which received Royal Assent on 29 April 2026, gives the London Mayor a power to call in licensing applications of strategic importance, as we explained in our closures piece. It is aimed at large venues and festivals, and the procedure is still being written into secondary legislation. The Home Office's October 2026 data, which we read in 14 years of licensing figures, shows the licensing system is not shrinking overall, and that its growth is in shops, not clubs.

Who gets licensed matters too. The REMEL report published on 14 October 2026 concluded, according to its authors, that Black and South Asian music events in London face more cancellations and restrictions than white-led ones, with Temporary Event Notices more likely to get a counter notice in the most diverse boroughs. We checked what it can and cannot show in our REMEL analysis.

Getting home. The Night Tube launched in August 2016 and runs on Friday and Saturday nights on the Central, Victoria, Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, according to the Greater London Authority. TfL's September 2026 tube map says it covers the Jubilee and Victoria lines and most of the Central, Northern and Piccadilly lines, so not every station is served. Check your station before you go. On other nights there is no Night Tube, so plan your route home before you buy a ticket.

The clubs

fabric

fabric is London's flagship underground club and is open in November 2026. It sits at 77a Charterhouse Street, opposite Smithfield Market, in the former Metropolitan Cold Stores. It opened on 29 October 1999 and was founded by Keith Reilly and Cameron Leslie. It has three rooms with independent sound systems, and part of the Room One floor is fitted with about 400 bass transducers, the Bodysonic floor, according to Wikipedia. DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs 2026 places fabric at No. 13, down one place, ahead of the Warehouse Project at 15 and Studio 338 at 20.

The official calendar for the first week of November lists FABRICLIVE on Friday 6 November (Keyrah b2b Izco, Karen Nyame KG Zengxrl, Lorkestra, Jack Bagshaw and SHAYK), a Saturday fabric night on 7 November billed with Marcel Dettmann, Ellen Allien, Shonky, Marie Montexier, Josh Keit and Nate Oldfield, and CAYA by fabric on Sunday 8 November. The club's 27th birthday weekend was announced by Mixmag on 31 July 2026 as more than 30 hours of programming from 17 to 19 October, billed with Ricardo Villalobos, Craig Richards and Ivan Smagghe, plus a FABRICLIVE night on 16 October. Richards, a long-time fabric resident, also curated the first Houghton Festival in Norfolk in 2017.

The licence history is the context for everything above. In September 2016 Islington Council revoked fabric's licence after a review of two drug-related deaths, and on 21 November 2016 the club and the council agreed a reopening on stricter terms, including a new photo ID system, covert surveillance, a lifetime ban for anyone caught dealing or possessing illegal drugs, and no under-19s from Friday 8pm to Monday 8am, according to Wikipedia. We told that story in more detail in our piece on the club's July 2026 Junction 2 night, where Jeff Mills was listed in Room 01 and Nina Kraviz was announced for the day but not listed on fabric's own event page. fabric's homepage links to an entry policy page that we could not open, so check age and ID rules on fabric's site before you go.

One neighbour to note: the new London Museum is scheduled to open in Smithfield on 28 November 2026, according to the museum's press release, which says fabric's exterior sign from its 20th anniversary will go on display there in a permanent installation called Hanging Out. The release is dated 29 August 2024, so confirm the opening date before planning a visit around it.

Ministry of Sound

Ministry of Sound is the longest-running of London's big clubs and is open, with a rebuilt main room. It opened in September 1991 in a converted bus garage at 103 Gaunt Street, Elephant and Castle, on a ballroom licence, and its 24-hour licence came out of an all-night session at Southwark Council, according to a Ministry Venues anniversary feature published on 8 September 2026. The club's own page lists four rooms: The Box (the main room), 103 (the main bar), The Baby Box and The Loft.

The Box was closed for the whole of January 2026 for a refit. The same feature says the old Martin Audio system was replaced with a KV2 system (Mixmag describes it as a custom six-point KV2 rig), the dancefloor and DJ booth were rebuilt, and new overhead lighting went in. The room relaunched on 30 January with a party, according to Mixmag, as part of the club's 35th anniversary year. In the International Nightlife Association's 2025 list of the world's 100 best clubs, which is decided by public vote, Ministry placed 28th, per Time Out. Its ticket page showed no November line-ups when we checked, so look at the club's calendar before planning.

Drumsheds

Drumsheds is London's largest dance venue and is operating, with its autumn and winter 2026 season running to 5 December. It occupies a former IKEA building in Tottenham, in the London Borough of Enfield, and first opened in 2023. Time Out's 2025 list describes it as a 15,000-capacity club, and the licence is for 14,999. It is run by Broadwick Live, the company behind Printworks, as we noted in our Printworks piece.

Its licence record belongs in a fair guide. After deaths on 27 October and 7 December 2024 and a stabbing on 18 November 2024, Enfield Council's licensing sub-committee heard a review on 7 January 2025 and let Drumsheds stay open with extra conditions, including more police presence and immediate reporting of serious incidents. It did not impose the capacity cut, ID scanning or bomb detection dogs the Metropolitan Police had sought, per Mixmag. In September 2025 the venue announced sound treatment for its main room, a redesign of the smaller Room Y and a new backstage bar for the AW25/26 season.

The AW26 season, announced in September, runs from 19 September to 5 December and is promoter-led: Terminal V on 23 October, elrow's Horroween on 31 October, A State of Trance on 14 November (billed with Armin van Buuren), City Splash on 21 November, FUSE on 28 November and RESISTANCE London on 5 December, with La Discothèque's 10th anniversary night billed with Purple Disco Machine and Folamour in November (Crack Magazine, 22 September 2026). DJ Mag's 2026 poll says Drumsheds climbed 24 places.

Studio 338

Studio 338 is the Greenwich Peninsula club with a covered terrace and is operating, with a caveat on programming. Its own site gives the address as 338 Boord Street, SE10 0PF, says it is 18+ and requires physical photo ID, and calls its terrace one of the largest terrace arenas in Europe. It placed No. 20 in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs 2026 with a stated capacity of 2,400. Time Out described its programme in June 2024 as underground house and techno, with nights including Half Baked and Sankeys parties.

When we checked on 5 November, the official events page showed only Release NYE on 31 December, so we could not confirm what is on in November. Ticketing listings show it hosted a night on 2 October 2026, so it is trading, but treat any specific November plan as unconfirmed until you see a ticket link.

E1

E1 is a Wapping club that books techno and house, and it is open, though our evidence is ticketing listings, not an official calendar. It is at 110 Pennington Street, Unit 2, E1W 2BB, with a stated capacity of 1,600 on Songkick (other listings say 1,500). Songkick lists Paolo Ferrara and Davyboi on Friday 6 November, Steve Bicknell on Saturday 7 November and Aiden with Kander and Vendex on Friday 13 November. We could not read E1's own site, and listings disagree on whether it opened in 2017 or 2018, so we give no opening year.

FOLD

FOLD is the Canning Town club built for long nights and is open. It sits in a former print works on an industrial estate at Gillian House, Stephenson Street, E16 4SA. According to Wikipedia it opened on 18 August 2018, operates on a 24-hour licence from Newham Council, and enforces a strict no-photography policy. Its official ticket page lists, for November and December 2026, The Third Room Club Tour on 6 November (Ahmet Sisman, Tommy Four Seven, Alba Heidari and others, 23:59 to 10:00), the door-only UNFOLD CXXXIV on 8 November, FOLD x Mala Junta on 14 November, and Psyk's NON SERIES Quince on 5 December across both rooms.

FOLD's licence history is on the public record. After a National Crime Agency raid on 22 October 2019, the Metropolitan Police obtained an interim suspension of its licence, and the club said it denied all allegations of impropriety and that nobody had been charged, according to a report published on 15 November 2019. Wikipedia says the licence was reinstated after a hearing later that month. Time Out's February 2026 24-hour licence piece describes FOLD as a late-night haven but does not say it holds a 24-hour licence, so treat that detail as Wikipedia's claim.

The Cause

The Cause is the independent warehouse club in Silvertown and is open. It started in late 2018 as a pop-up in Tottenham Hale, closed that site in early 2022 and, by 2023, was at 60 Dock Road, E16 1YZ, according to Wikipedia. A ticketing listing describes the Silvertown building as a former brewery with five rooms and an open-air courtyard, with about 1,050 capacity. The nearest station is West Silvertown on the DLR.

Techno listings show Janus VI on Friday 6 November and the Body Movements Winter Festival from midday on Saturday 14 November. The Cause did not give us an official calendar we could read, so these are third-party listings.

Phonox

Phonox is the Brixton club for dancefloors that run on house and its relatives, and it is open. It is at 418 Brixton Road, SW9 7AY, in the former Plan B space. Its own page lists Friday and Saturday hours of 21:30 to 04:00 and Sunday hours of 16:00 to 22:00, but the page metadata dates from 2022, so confirm the hours. Songkick lists Ross From Friends and Cameo Blush on Friday 6 November, George Fitzgerald on Saturday 7 November, and Ross From Friends again with The Ones on Friday 13 November, plus a Thursday series called The Breaks.

Egg London

Egg London is the King's Cross-area club with a garden and a three-level layout, and it is open. The official calendar gives the address as 5 to 13 Vale Royal, N7 9AP, and opening nights as Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Time Out reported on 12 November 2024 that the club, which opened in 2003 in a Victorian warehouse, had refurbished the Garden, Middle Floor and Loft, with new sound systems, about 1,000 capacity and five music rooms across three levels.

The November calendar leans commercial: Autumn Sessions (house, tech house and deep house) on Friday 6 November, a Bass Face night billed as a 360 Boiler Room special on 7 November, an over-25s House of Silk on 14 November, and a Wednesday club night. It is a good late house night, less so a destination for a specific underground bill.

Village Underground

Village Underground is a Victorian warehouse in Shoreditch with Jubilee line carriages on the roof, and it is open. It opened in 2006 at 54 Holywell Lane, EC2A 3PQ, and describes itself as independent. Its calendar mixes gigs and club nights: Ella Knight's House Party at 11pm on Saturday 28 November, Riria's Floating on 5 December and Conducta on New Year's Eve. A rooftop with a heated terrace opened to the public for the first time in summer 2026, per the venue's site. Hackney Council said in 2017 that a 15-year lease extension carried no break until 2027 (Hackney Council), which makes the next few years worth watching.

XOYO and Colour Factory

XOYO reopened on 31 January 2026, and it is not a pure techno room. Kirk Allen of Propaganda Independent Venues bought it around December 2025 and relaunched it with a redesigned Basement (the Void), a renamed Room 2 (The Jungle) and an expanded sound system, with a stated capacity of 800, according to Mixmag. The November calendar runs from drum and bass to house and live shows, including OVMBRSOUNDS 04 on 14 November and Airspace LDN with Burnski on 21 November.

Colour Factory in Hackney Wick is operating, since it hosted the Nightlife Taskforce report launch in January 2026. We could not read its current calendar, so we give no programming detail.

Gone or not yet back

Corsica Studios

Corsica Studios, the Elephant and Castle arches club, was scheduled to close at the end of March 2026, and we found no sign that it has reopened. The Quietus reported on 1 October 2025 that the venue "as we currently know it" would close at the end of March 2026, with a closing programme running from 31 December to 29 March. The team said running a late-night venue had become "increasingly difficult" during a large development, denied that noise complaints or the developer or council were forcing them out, and said they were in talks about the future (The Quietus). The developer Delancey is to pay to soundproof the space and hand it back in 2027 for refitting as a cultural and creative venue, with co-founder Adrian Jones and the current team given first refusal. London Now reported a 28-hour finale from 28 to 29 March 2026 (London Now). We found no report written after that weekend, so we cannot confirm how the night went, and we found nothing confirming a return.

Printworks

Printworks has been closed since the 2023 farewell run, and a return is not confirmed. Southwark approved a scheme in September 2024 that keeps the Press Halls, a May 2026 consultation proposed a culture-and-leisure-only building, and DJ Mag reported in October 2026, citing The Times, that Broadwick now plans to reopen a new version in 2029 (DJ Mag). We found no official date. The full status is in our Printworks reopening report.

What we could not verify

The Pickle Factory in Bethnal Green is the main London venue we could not confirm. The last source we could open, a Mixmag report from 15 February 2023, described a relaunch with GALA as Pickle 2.0, and we found no 2026 source on whether it is trading. We left it out of the list rather than guess. This guide is also not a complete directory: we cover the clubs where we could confirm 2026 activity.

Which London club for which night

Pick by what you want from the night, not by the ranking. DJ Mag's list is a public vote that rewards big venues, so it measures popularity more than quality.

For a flagship night with a long history, fabric on a Saturday. For late hours and a no-photos floor in the east, FOLD. For warehouse techno at scale, E1 or The Cause. For a big-room spectacle, Drumsheds on one of its promoter dates, where you are buying the event more than the venue. For a smaller south London night, Phonox. For a rebuilt sound system and a long club history, Ministry of Sound.

For the wider festival scene around the city, see our page on Junction 2, the Boston Manor Park festival whose 2026 edition included a fabric day on 25 July. For how London compares, our Berlin guide and European closures tracker cover the other side of the table.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the best clubs in London for techno?

fabric, FOLD, E1 and The Cause are the strongest techno picks we could confirm as open in November 2026. fabric's calendar listed Marcel Dettmann, Ellen Allien and Shonky on 7 November, FOLD runs extended nights with a no-photos policy, and E1 and The Cause run warehouse-style techno nights. Studio 338 and Drumsheds are larger, and Corsica Studios, a long-running club room, was due to close in March 2026.

Is fabric still open in 2026?

Yes. fabric is open at 77a Charterhouse Street, and its official calendar lists nights from 5 to 8 November 2026. It placed 13th in DJ Mag's Top 100 Clubs 2026 and marked its 27th birthday with a marathon announced for 17 to 19 October. Its licence was revoked in September 2016 and restored on stricter terms in November 2016.

Is Printworks reopening?

Not yet. Printworks closed in 2023, Southwark approved a scheme for a music venue in September 2024, and a 2026 consultation reopened the design. DJ Mag reported in October 2026, citing The Times, that Broadwick plans a new version in 2029. There is no official date, line-up or ticket sale.

Did Corsica Studios close?

It was due to. Corsica Studios announced it would close at the end of March 2026, with its final programme running to 29 March, and we found no sign that it has reopened. The developer Delancey is paying for soundproofing and is due to hand the space back in 2027 for refitting, with the club's co-founder and team given first refusal. No reopening has been confirmed.

Does London have a night czar?

No. Amy Lamé, the first night czar, stood down in autumn 2024 after eight years, and the Mayor's Nightlife Taskforce recommended an independent Nightlife Commission in January 2026 instead of a successor. As of October 2026 the commission has an interim board of five and an unsigned funding agreement expected by January 2027.

Can you get home from a London club by Tube?

On Friday and Saturday nights, often yes. The Night Tube runs on the Central, Victoria, Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, though TfL says not every station on the Central, Northern and Piccadilly lines is served. Check your station on TfL's journey planner before you travel, and note that Night Tube does not run on other nights.
